BED BUGS - I´M GOING MAD

Thank you all, for your help. Turns out it was not bedbugs after all but a flea. Just one. Several hospitaleros had said, rightly as it turned out, that it was not bedbugs. And I had seen no other evidence eg dots. Some said mosquitos, another said "could it be fleas?", another said bedbugs...

Three things that you would not do at home...

Put any of these - rucksack, contents, walking poles - on the breakfast table while packing in the morning. I don´t do it on the Camino either but some seem to think it´s OK.

BED BUGS - I´M GOING MAD

Can anyone help? Three red bumps appeared in Carrion de los Condes - hospitalera said mosquitos. As did the one at Terradillos and Bercianos. More itchy red bumps. Much insect repellant and anti histamine bought. At Astorga the man said "cinchas" and my next stop at Rabanal put everything on an...

    One small Englishwoman

will start from StJ on 14 Sept, stopping in Orisson that night. So many friends and neighbours have asked "Who are you going with? Surely you aren't walking alone?" and I have said I am sure I will meet many friends en route, I will not be alone. Looking forward to meeting you. Joanne

    Train connection at Bordeaux

Margaret - my tickets are Eurostar From St Pancras through to Bordeaux then SNCF from there. It was cheaper that way. Could I still punch the Bayonne ticket in Paris, do you know? Thanks Joanne

    Train connection at Bordeaux

Hello, I'm travelling to StJPdP, by train, next week. The Paris train gets me to Bordeaux at 14.22 and the train for Bayonne leaves at 14.27. That's 5 minutes to get off, find the machine to composter le billet, find the Bayonne train and get on it. Is it do-able or should I just say "manana"...

Santiago - Fisterra - Muxia - La Coruna

Hello - I start from St Jean on 14 September and had planned to take it fairly steady, have booked a flight home from La Coruna on 24 October. I know there is a bus from Santiago to La Coruna. However, I am now thinking I might manage to walk to Fisterra and Muxia, if I keep a reasonable pace...

    A Pilgrimage with a purpose

The purpose of my camino next month has always been a hard question for me to answer. Why? Because I feel I have to. However, someone suggested I try to make it benefit others as well as me and I am therefore seeking sponsorship for my church's repair fund...

    Getting to SJPDP

Hurray think I've cracked it. Discovered that, if you book via Eurostar site from St Pancras to Bordeaux, not only is this cheaper than Eurostar to Gare du Nord then Montparnasse to Bordeaux, it gets you to Bordeaux in time to get the last train from Bayonne to St Jean. Well - just - only 5 mins...

    Getting to SJPDP

Thanks again folks, but I had been really looking forward to Eurostar an TGV. I've more or less decided on train to King's Cross, Eurostar to Gare du Nord, Montparnasse to Bayonne and an overnight stay there. I think the worst part will be getting from Gare du Nord to Gare Montparnasse. At least...

    Getting to SJPDP

Many thanks for the advice and the welcome. Flights aren't really an option as I live in the (far) north of England and the nearer airports don't fly to Biarritz on the day I start. But I do feel reassured that arriving in St Jean mid morning will still leave me time to make Orisson that...

    Getting to SJPDP

I was hoping to start from St Jean on Wed 13 Sept and have already booked a place at Orisson that night (I know I would struggle with getting to Roncesvalles in one day). The plan was to get the 5.20 am Eurostar to Paris, then train to Bayonne and onward to St Jean. However, the 10.10am direct...
