It's been a year since I walked from St. Jean to Santiago. Here is a video I put together if you would like to check it out. I still think of my experience almost daily. This forum was such an incredible blessing helping me to get ready and great tips on how to prepare. I flew to Spain alone...
So grateful you created this forum ~ I received so much help from the members through their experience and suggestions and because of that I was able to experience the camino and reach Santiago!
And thank you for providing pilgrims with a luggage storage as I was so happy to pick up my box and...
I arrived in Santiago a couple of days ago and have finished my walk. I am so happy and grateful to God that I was able to physically finish. It was much harder than I anticipated but was fortunate that I didn't sustain injury or encounter circumstances that prevent me from reaching Santiago. I...
Hola fellow pilgrims and forum members! Well I have started my third week on the Camino and I'm very happy that I listen to the suggestions of hanging in there after the first week when it was so hard emotionally and mentally. I have met various people that I am hanging with and I am feeling...
Well things are getting better and the anxiety is settling down I am in Najera now (past Logrona - got lost there but a camino angel came to the rescue and gave me directions on how to get through the city and to the other side and back on the Camino track! Very nice Spanish man who spoke...
I am one week into my Camino - staying in Estella at the monestary. Wow what A challenge this has been thus far. Not only physically but just working through all the anxiety and fears of trying to figure out where I am, what I'm doing, and how to get what I need. This has proved to be a bit...
Time to go is drawing near. Seems a bit unreal. I just learned about the Camino de Santiago last fall and very soon I will board a plane for Spain. Life is interesting with all it's twists and turns...
Actually it has already been a wonderful journey with all the planning, researching...
Some have inquired as to how my plantar fasciitis (which kicked up recently) is doing with less than two weeks to go for the start of my camino, so thought I would do an update in case this can help anyone else who may be facing the same situation.
First off, I decided to get new boots...I know...
I was wondering if someone might have a bit more info on these two options on how to get from the Madrid airport to the train station.
My plane arrives at T4s
1) Madrid Cercanias train from Airport T4 to Puerta de Atocha.
(is this a commuter train or something? is it near T4s? do I buy a ticket...
I am suppose to leave in 18 days for my first camino. Several years ago I had a painful bout with plantar fasciitis in my right foot. Eventually it subsided and I thought I was "cured" forever!
It has decided to rear its ugly head again...:(
I am worried about this situation. I am staying off...
I printed it out and gave it to some family and friends as they were wondering about the general layout of the route. Someone else may find it helpful...
(I added the START and FINISH arrows as that is what I hope to accomplish)
Buen Camino!
Wanted to check out my new "sleeves" on an early morning hike to see if they keep the chill off. They did great! and when I started to warm up I just pulled them off while I kept walking (and if it gets chilly or windy I can just slip them back on.) It was a beautiful day for a 14 mile hike...
I never thought of myself as an over-controlling person or one who tries to complicate the heck out of situations...this journey I'm about to take may prove that to be a false view of self. (taking my 1st camino May/June of 2016)
I have worried, fussed over, fretted, been fearful, anxious, and...
I have not tried these but I think they may worth looking into - they adhere to the footwear not the foot. Has anyone had any experiences these?
Engo Blister patches
While gathering up a bit of info from previous threads I ran across one asking for input on albergues with communal meals. It is from 2015 but I imagine the info is still good ~ just thought I would continue to pass it along for those of us getting ready to start out.
Many thanks to Hélène...
I am trying to figure out if I actually need to bring a lightweight sheet or material treated with permethrin to cover the mattresses as a deterrent for those dreadful bedbugs? I have read some threads where people do bring something but after taking a look at quite a few different pack lists I...
I was fortunate that my work schedule was such that I had 4 consecutive days off in a row and so I decided I would like to try and do a 15 mile/24 kilometer hike each day, just to see what it would feel like doing them back to back. Also there was going to be a significant mixture wind, rain and...
1) After someone told me about the Camino de Santiago I entertained the idea for a brief moment and then it became a tremendous desire, calling, motivation...or whatever!)
2) Began researching
3) Started walking...(first time I reached 3 miles I thought I was really doing something! I really...
