Hi Tony, congrats on the retirement, the Harley, and the longevity of your marriage! I met several recently retired folks on the camino. I am planning my second with wife and toddler this year....buen camino!
Looking back at my notes, I walked from Leon to Santiago in 12 days. Itinerary on my site. I kept a pretty fast pace overall - having walked from SJPP to Santiago in 30 days...you may want to allow perhaps 14 days from Leon.
At 40, you'll still be a spring chicken on the camino! I first walked the camino in my late 20s and met people of all ages, including those well into their 70s.
Buen Camino from a fellow South Eastern pilgrim - I am in Atlanta. I walked solo years ago and will walk again this year with my wife and 2 year old...what an adventure!
What a wonderful experience! My advice will be to be patient and flexible! I also agree with another pilgrim on this thread -- you may keep different paces during the day's walk- this is fine. When I walked the Camino with friends we all kept different paces...and would meet up throughout the...
Good luck! I walked the Camino in April and it took me 30 days from SJPP to Santiago...would have loved another week...enjoy! BTW- Love Oregon- my wife and I visited the wine country there not long ago. Buen Camino- from Atlanta! Chris
I did the Camino in April and had several very cool days...most days I wore my fleece and wind breaker pants and jacket....a few times I was able to wear shorts...a couple of days I came close to seeing snow...I imagine in March- one month sooner- you are likely to encounter more cold days than...
Good luck Chris! I did the Camino several years ago but the experience remains as vivid as ever...the Camino never really leaves you....Buen Camino! Chris
Bonjour! I think the Camino from Bordeaux is very beautiful - I want to do it as well. I'm and American but have good friends who live in Bordeaux...I was there for the Bordeaux marathon a few years ago and remember seeing small signs for the Chemin de St Jacques...Happy Camino!
Greetings and congrats on your decision to embark on the Camino!! Like the others have said, Puerto Ricans are a rarity on the Camino....but looks like you will help change that :D . When I did the Camino from SJPP to Santiago, I met a few other Americans...a couple of Canadians...and one...
Bonjour Florent - good luck on the Camino! It is a wonderful experience indeed. I did the Camino from STPP to Santiago - took me 30 days...Happy Camino!
Make sure to get a good pair of hiking shoes/boots and I would suggest smart wool socks. I walked 500 miles without getting any blisters...you'll have so many other challenges on the Camino, if you take care of your feet, that will be one less thing you'll have to worry about. Happy training...
