"A Different Christmas" - Christmas 2020 Song in Galego

I'm sharing this cheesy but uplifting Christmas song in the hopes that it will bring some cheer to those who aren't able to celebrate with their loved ones this year.

It's in galego, but the lyrics are pretty easy to follow. Here they are written out, with the English translation below. Galegofalantes, please correct any mistakes I've made, as I'm still learning galego. Bo Nadal!

#CanciónNadal2020

Un Nadal Distinto

Performed by Kiko Bea

No meu corazón

Un Nadal distinto imos celebrar

Sen apertas porque moitos non están

Sabendo que este ano pasará

Un Nadal distinto imos celebrar

Con agarimo porque outros voltarán

Soñando que outro ano chegará

Xa é Nadal, xa estamos preparados

A ilusión e a maxia xa nos contaxiou

Desexos para un ano novo

Brindemos para que sexa mellor

Pero Nadal non é Nadal se non estás

Ainda estando lonxe sei que estás aquí

No meu corazón

Un Nadal distinto imos celebrar

Sen apertas porque moitos non están

Sabendo que este ano pasará

Un Nadal distinto imos celebrar

Con agarimo porque outros voltarán

Soñando que outro ano chegará

English Translation:

Let’s celebrate a different kind of Christmas

Without hugs because many aren’t here

Knowing that this year will pass

Christmas is that feeling

That we can never forget

Also a kiss from a distance

Maybe the magic of being able to see you

But Christmas isn’t Christmas if you’re not here

Even being far away, I know you’re here

In my heart

Let’s celebrate a different kind of Christmas

Without hugs because many aren’t here

Knowing that this year will pass

Let’s celebrate a different kind of Christmas

With tenderness, because others will return

Dreaming that another year will come

It’s already Christmas, we’re already prepared

Illusion and magic have already infected us

Wishes for a new year

Let’s toast to it being a better one

But Christmas isn’t Christmas if you’re not here

Even being far away, I know you’re here

In my heart

Let’s celebrate a different kind of Christmas

Without hugs because many aren’t here

Knowing that this year will pass

Let’s celebrate a different kind of Christmas

With tenderness, because others will return

Dreaming that another year will come

Eu son Galego falante.
The translation is perfect.
My only comment is the word "agarimo" that I would translate as affection.
Agarimo is not used in common language. People use much more"cariño" that is Spanish but also Galego.
Enjoy your learning.
Bo Nadal !.
Grazas!

That's interesting about "agarimo". I feel like I've come across it many times while reading the Dragal series of young adult fantasy novels. Perhaps it's used more in the written language than when speaking?

Just the thing to cheer up a pretty dreich day here in Edinburgh. A wee dance around the kitchen is recommended.
PS dreich means grey wet and dreary in Scots. A word we use quite a lot 🤓!

I am wondering how you disconnect, in part, from the world. I have a couple of reasons that I need to be accessible but, I don't want to be constantly connected on this journey. Ideas?
Can anyone tell me if food is available there… anyone stayed recently? Cheers
If you’re walking the Camino Portugues right now I’d recommend you avoid the complementario route into Pontevedra. While it is quiet and green and follows the river, it’s also a muddy mess. I...
