Happy New & Holy Year(s)!

Here in Santiago we are celebrating the opening of the Holy Door to the Cathedral, and pleasantly surprised by the announcement that the celebrations will be extended through 2022! For those of us that have been missing the community of pilgrims, this is welcome news.

To celebrate the end of a very long 11 years, I have redesigned the original Big Map with a new look and more routes. A few routes have been rubber-stamped by the powers that be since the original map was made, including two routes that end in Santiago: a variant of the Camino Inglés from Muros-Noia (approved but yet to be fully yellowarrowed) and another very rigorous route from Braga direct to Santiago. I have also added a few other non Santiago pilgrimages like that of Calatrava.

I also want to take the time to thank everyone that has supported my shop throughout the years, and especially during 2020... it was a tough year for all of us. I miss you all.

The map is now available to order from Ivar's shop, and ships just as soon as it leaves the press.

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
Hi Michael
thanks for posting this. Just had a quick look. Isn't there a bit of the Viejo missing from Pamplona via Vitoria-Gasteiz and then on to the mountains (Aguilar de Campoo?)
Cheers, tom
PS If you put a clearer version up we could all review it - but that might result in a short delay...😉
(Edit added) PPS interesting to compare with RayyRosa's map https://www.rayyrosa.com/todos-los-caminos-de-la-peninsula - I appreciate it's not an easy job!)

Wishing you and us all a happier New Year, and I want to thank you for your good work! Your CF guide is GREAT, and likewise, your app is a fantastic tool for daily planning & forward booking along my walks. Thanks again!

Thanks for update Michael. Yep likewise it's been a tough year for us who try to make a living promoting the Camino. Is your update available digitally so I can minupulate and print off? Or in the future can you provide a digital format?

I don't have any plans for a digital version just yet. There is a pretty big distance in legibility between an offset printed map and one that works on screen and I have not thought much about how to bridge that distance.

Ate the new routes actually historical and ways the early pilgrims would have walked?

Thank you.

Why does the Ebro look so crooked?
Looks to me as if the map is showing the GR99 Sendero del Ebro, rather than the Jacobeo Ruta del Ebro. The latter cuts across country, leaving the Ebro at Benifallet, going vía Gandesa and Batea and rejoining the river near Caspe, taking about 75km. The GR largely follows the river's mazy meanderings and takes ~160km to cover the same ground. Both very nice walks.

Ok I’m sold.....I think for me this will serve to dream daily each time I walk by it. Thanks!

it follows the river

The Camino and the GR99 are different, as Alan says. But I have walked the Ruta del Ebro and found that many times the two coincide, and sometimes you can choose to detour onto the GR and merge back with the Camino later on. It sounds confusing, but I was fine — though I confess I had a GPS with me for backup.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Michael,
Many thanks, have a copy of your first map looking forward to seeing this updated one.
Can you please give us a little more information on the route from Muros-Noia, thank you.

Lovely map! I see you have only the interior route out of Lisbon. Will you be adding the coastal to the next iteration? I took the attached in Cascais in January (If I can find a section of Camino when I'm traveling, I always walk it!). Camino marker - Cascais.jpg
