Hi, I'm Rachel, a 22 yr old student from Kentucky, USA. I'm planning to start the camino from SJPP in the very end of August (30th or 31st).

I first heard of the Camino two years ago, while studying abroad in southern Spain. It's been on my mind ever since, and I finally have a block of time to actually walk. I graduated from college in May and decided to take a year off of school to travel a bit and do things (such as this) that I haven't had the opportunity to do. I'm walking by myself, which in the beginning was more by necessity than choice, but I am getting more and more excited as it gets closer.

I also plan on traveling some around Europe after I reach Santiago, and I want to have more than just the 2 or 3 outfits that I carry with me in my pack. Any suggestions on what to do about this? Should I have clothes mailed to me? Bring them on the plane and store them somewhere when I arrive in Spain? Mail them to Santiago from within Spain? I'm completely clueless...

I love Spain. LOVE it! I cannot wait to actually begin!
(also exciting - I am going to La Tomatina tomato festival in Bunol the day before I start the camino!)

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
If you have a hotel reservation in Santiago or Madrid already, you can mail the extras to yourself once you get to Spain. My plans for my next trip in September are to overnight it in Madrid (to shake off jetlag) & leave my extra things at the hotel (they will hold it for you as well as accept mail/packages).

Buen Camino!
