Only walked from Porto. I read that south of there there are fewer albergues. In Portugal last month I stayed in four albergues - two charged 5€ and two were donativo. Very similar to Spanish albergues. All had some blankets but not necessarily enough for all the beds. Very few other pilgrims so that was not an issue. Once in Galicia the municipal albergues had a standard charge of 6€.

The scenery is not as varied as the Camino Frances. No meseta, no very large hills. Mostly gently rolling country with a few higher ridges to cross. A lot of small back roads and some walking alongside larger roads. A larger percentage of the route is asphalt but usually very little traffic. Short sections through forest. Passing through many small villages and towns. Overall a gentler and more modest experience.

Are there Alburges along the coastal route ? how far up the coast can you go ? is the coastal route fairly busy I don't want te be walking solo the whole time.
