Albergue Alcuéscar closed July

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
What about Casa Perigrina, Dorotea's place. We had a lovely stay there with cooked meal. German lady with flat in town.

I absolutely do not recommend Casa Grande! Look at the negative comments on Booking.com.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
No, that entry refers to Casa Grande in Jerez. You need to look for Casa Grande Extremadura for the Alcuescar Hotel.

Isn't Aljucén before Alcuéscar? Albergue Analena is before, in Aljucén, right? :0o

You are quite right @Bad Pilgrim , Aljucén is before Alcuéscar. The next albergue is in Aldea del Cano another 15 km further down the road.

And regarding Albergue Annalena in Aljucén, is it still open? I thought that I had read that she was closing in down due to problems with the mayor who is friends with someone else opening an albergue.

I don't know, I have stayed there twice, but now I haven't been on the Plata for ages... I just read Yoren's live report from Vdpl : he says he stayed in a private albergue, and no talk of Annalena... I hope it doesn't shut down, it is a nice place!

Hi, LT
Annalena is still open, sort of. At least it was in May. Apparently, the guy in the bar in the plaza has the keys and will give them to people who ask.

I went to the private albergue, which is very nice, Rio Aljucén, I think it is called. A couple of hours after I checked in, four people arrived and were told there were no beds. The guy checking them in told them there was nowhere to stay and that he would call them a cab to go back to Mérida. Later I learned that in fact the Annalena was open, there were a few people there, with empty beds. I assume this is fallout from the rift, whatever it is from. But it wasn’t very nice to tell people there was nowhere to stay when he knew perfectly well there was another place in town that might have beds.

And the casa rural is also closed, which Analena had. BUT... the albergue had a brochure about the Termas/baths. I am virtually certain that that place was also run by Annalena, so either the dispute is limited to the albergue and casa rural, or someone else has taken them over.

On 26 March I stayed at Hotel Rural Termas Aqua Libera. I'm pretty sure it is not connected to Analena's place. Analena had told me by email earlier that the dispute had forced her to close her albergue. I understood that her casa rural was still open, though. Best to check the situation personally!
