I tried the kindle app on my phone but decide against it because I thought I'd be swiping all the time due to the limited amount of readable text the screen held. I'd get annoyed by that.
My son has recently pointed me to The Moon+ Reader, available from Google Play.
Guess what? - No swiping.
It scrolls thru the selected book at an adjustable pace.
Now that looks better. I could handle that!

I use the kindle app on my iPhone while on the Camino. It really isn't any problem at all.
Like Gerard, I thought it would be too small and annoying.
I find it simple and use it while traveling at home..
Any book you have on a kindle or ebook on iPad can simply be opened on the Kindle iPhone app or an iPhone eBook app.
Give it a try at home before you go. You can decide if it is for you.
Sure reduces the need for bulk and weight if reading is part of your Camino plans.

I use the Kindle app too and never found swiping a problem.

Some phones have eye movement tracking for scrolling the web browser, dont know if it works with ereaders.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I took a kindle as I thought I would be reading a lot, however as soon as I started meeting people I read less. I probably would just use the app on my phone next time. The only consideration would be battery life, as the kindle lasts for days - vs the hours of a phone. I don't mind the kindle app on my phone as a reader, but thanks for the alternate reader suggestions!

cheers,

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Get an external battery and you've got power whenever you need it. Charge the battery and keep phone safe.

I cant sleep without reading to switch my brain off so the Kindle app is an essential for me.

Same for me, I have to read every night for a while before I switch off. You can get a "piggyback" battery for most phones now where you clip the phone into the battery cradle, this gives me about two to two and a half extra charges on top of the phones battery. And as Stuart says it gives extra protection to the phone.
