Time of past OR future Camino
Camino may
Hi. Originally myself and my niece were going to be first time walkers of the camino. Unfortunately she is no longer able to make it. I am very nervous about doing this on my own but as my flight leaves new Zealand for the uk tomorrow I will be on that plane.
We booked 2 beds at the Orrison on Thursday 4th may. But will be only needing one of them. So thought I would put it on here if anyone would like it. Or is there anything else you could advise me to do.?
Thankyou to everyone on the forum. I have been an avid follower but first time posting .

Welcome to the forum @Ruthukkiwi sorry that your travel plans have started to unravel - you will know from reading the posts that this is a common occurrence and just confirms that you are on your way. It is very generous of you to offer the spare bed at Orrison and I am sure there will be takers. Have a great time, you will never need to be alone between St jean Pied de Port and Santiago unless it is your choice. Buen Camino peregrina!

Hi, Ruthukkiwi,
Welcome to the forum, or better said, welcome to the lurker to poster transition! I understand the nerves, but my bet is that when you arrive in Santiago all these many weeks later, you will look back and be thankful that you had a chance to walk alone. I'm not saying that walking with a companion is a negative, I have done it and enjoyed it. But there is something challenging and liberating and eye-opening about being on your own. On the Frances this never means being alone, because you can always have company if you want it. But you are going to have to make much more effort than you would if you and your niece were a team, so look at it as a challenge that will give you a chance to push yourself in ways you never knew you could. I think you will be fine.

If you don´t find a taker on the forum, I am certain that one of the many people you come in contact with as you leave SJPP and begin the walk up will be MOST grateful when you offer them a bed in Orisson! Buen camino, Laurie

Kia kaha @Ruthukkiwi.
The best I can offer you in terms of practical encouragement is....I will be at Auckland International Airport tomorrow from about 5pm, flying to Malaysia at 7:30. I have just taken my shell off my blue Deuter backpack, but there is still a forum badge and hand embroidered shell......if you see me come and say Hi....my badge will be your first arrow!
You'll be right mate!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Ruth, this is Fantastic news! Ok, bit sad for your niece, but it means you get to do the Camino by yourself - this is brilliant!! So much better than having some family walking thing - you go out there, get walking, enjoy every moment - !!!!!

Oh, and Ruth ... you won't be alone ;)

Buen Camino!!
