My pack has a Forum badge too, but it was already in Ponte de Lima. We had taxied/ walked back to Casa Fernanda, first because we knew that Rachael and Rob were there that night and also to deliver a hen. But that's another story!

Here's proof of the other story...in NZ we give a chocolate fish to people who do well at something - if you can guess the story behind this hen, you get a virtual chocolate fish!

Not dinner (but we did put our kiwi hens in the pot before heading to the camino this time - they were old and no longer laying so it was inevitable - we had told them when we brought them home to give them a good life that this would be their eternity - the kids still named them!!)

The hen has been named Iris, after the lady first left in the photo. Famous Fernanda is the lady in the centre holding the new hen!
Oops, I had to eliminate some of this, as I almost spilt the beans, when reading ?Rachael's comment!

Anne - you should certainly be the one to explain all when you are ready![/QUOTE

Well, I was trying to add a photo to illustrate the event, but don't manage! FYI Rachel PM'd me the instructions, but to no avail!
The hen idea came up through 3 Germans, who we had seen on and off, during our Camino and we all spent a very memorable day and evening at Fernanda's. They wanted to make a special, unusual present to Fernanda, thanking her for the incredible hospatility that she and Jacinto her husband offered. The next day, while walking towards Ponte de Lima, they heard sounds of hens behind a hedge and decided that THAT was what they could give! They followed the hedge around until they came to a farm entrance, went in and asked the surprised owner if she would sell them a hen! Price was agreed on and our 3 Germans promised they would return later that afternoon to collect same mentioned hen. This involved a taxi ride and then a good walk back to Fernanda's. When I heard of the ' project' I asked if I could ride along too, as I knew that Rachael and hubbie Rob were to be there that evening. Two places then came free in the taxi, so Adriaan ( fraluchi) also came for the ride.
We collected the hen, which had, in the meantime be packed up in a cardboard box and then started a hilarious walk for several Kms ( me in Crocs because I didn't realize that we would have to walk part of the way back)!
The hen, now named Iris, was presented to Fernanda and Adriaan and I were happy to finally meet up with Rachael and Rob, as we had been keeping in touch, not only during the previous day's, but also in the past!

Why, my friends, would a hen be a perfect gift? (This is a much easier question!!)
No idea! :p
It's a more difficult question, because I don't know!!
