April-May VdLP/Sanabres, and Botos question

Time of past OR future Camino
Portugal route from Lisbon in May (2015)
Via de la Plata from Seville in April-May 2017
Hello @SYates. I’m preparing for an April-May 2017 VdLP/Sanabres from Seville (start walking April 10, arrive Santiago May 23). I walked CP from Lisbon in 2015. I’m updating Gerald Kelly’s VdLP guidebook with comments from your and Old Gringo’s posts (and any posts I can find). Very very helpful.

A question: Near Castro-Dozon, you mention Botos. I found it on Google Maps, but not in the guidebook. It appears north of the Way near AP-53. Can you tell me more about it? How to get there, etc.

For others reading this post and who will be walking about the same time, try to find me for a custom made VdLP guitar pick. A present from me to you. I have 200 picks.

Mundicamino shows Botos on the Sanabres. It is much closer to Laxe than to Castro Dozon, at least according to the mundicamino map.

To confuse things a bit more, it appears that the A Laxe albergue is actually in Botos. Place names in Galicia are very confusing, with concellos, parroquias and other sub-municipal territories.

p.s. It may also be that there is a Botos de Arriba and Botos de Abajo, as suggested in some of the forum threads if you search for "Botos."

Another web site to look through! I bookmarked MunidiCamino on my phone to have with me. As much as you help on this forum, they should name a city after you – SanPeregrina2000. And there should be a pilgrimage to that city.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Hi Steve! I am starting from Seville on April 10th also. Might see you around!

Hello @SYates. ... A question: Near Castro-Dozon, you mention Botos. I found it on Google Maps, but not in the guidebook. It appears north of the Way near AP-53. Can you tell me more about it? How to get there, etc....

Oh dear, Botos! I remember that day, I was pretty much DOA ;-) As @peregrina2000 has mentioned already town names are very confusing sometimes, to add to that confusion, the place I stayed it was locally known as 'Estacion de Lalin/Botos' ;-) The way passes at the outskirts of it, so to get to the hotel I had to go into town, there is/was a map at the start of town. The albergue is ~6km further on in Laxe (no services apart of one bar). There isn't an albergue in Botos itself, but they all seem to belong to the wider administrative parish of Lalin. See also https://www.gronze.com/etapa/cea/lalin

Hope that helps and Buen Camino, SY

Oh, Steve, I would love one of those picks but I'm not starting until 15th April from Granada. Unless you walk very slowly & I am very fast we are unlikely to coincide.
