Hi, I'm going to be in Bayonne on Sunday after walking the Le Puy route to SJPdP. I remember people on this forum talking about a place to stay over the road from Bayonne train station. I think it may have been a café but I'm not sure. Can anyone help?
Also, is there a bus that runs from Roncesvalles back to SJPdP in the afternoon? I'd like to walk to Roncesvalles without my rucksack for a nice change.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

I second the hotel cote basque...stayed there two weeks ago after finishing the Le Puy Chemin. It's a sweet little hotel that is reasonably priced.

Am at the Côte Basque now - trying to sleep off jet lag. It's a nice place, and from my window, I can see the col Lepoeder in profile - I think!
Congratulations on completing the le Puy!

I don't think that's Lapoeder but @biarritzdon can easily prove that ;)
It's nice evening view though.

Wish you a gentle start, Terry!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I'm currently in Bayonne, leaving tomorrow. I'm staying at the Okku Hotel which I adore. What an experience. It's an easy 20 min walk from the station. Includes breakfast, all day snacks, wine, horsd'oeuvres. Sauna, terrace, etc. Really cool and comfy rooms.

Didn't stay there. But will if come this way again. Looks great. I see they have a few more in France which I may get to try one day.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I stayed at the IBIS Budget in Anglet. Only 30 mins from Bayonne Gare on a direct bus and even walkable from the Airport (thus avoiding the robbing taxis who are particularly bad at this airport).

Monte Carlo's only advantage (apart from being across the road from the station) is that it is cheap. I would not stay there again: tiny room with washbasin, toilet down the hall, couldn't find a shower!

Couldn't find a shower?
It was right there across the corridor from my room. Well, that was in 2011, maybe they've moved it :D

As a naïve 20 year old, I spent a miserable first night in Paris. My hotel room had an en-suite bath that included a shower, sink and bidet. For the life of me, I couldn’t figure out how that thing worked so I lay awake the entire night, desperately needing to “go”. It wasn’t until I was heading downstairs in the morning to check out that I saw a door marked WC which I stealthily opened, only to discover the answer to my prayers. A two letter combination I had never heard of before became my favorite new word.
