Hello all!
I will walk the Camino Portugues next July together with a friend, and I was wondering if it would be clever to book albergues in advance or not? Are there many albergues along the road so it essentially doesn't matter or would it be better to book them?

Hi there! Some Albergues don't take bookings but where possible it is a good idea to book. It also depends where your'e starting from as there are not as many from Lisbon to Porto I found last month.

Bom Camino!!

I wouldn't recommend booking too far in advance. As @Lindy Loo notes, there are albergues that don't take bookings, and when I wanted to stay at any of these, I made sure I arrived early in the afternoon. I booked further ahead for Porto and Santiago, both places I planned to stay for several days. Otherwise, the most I booked ahead was a couple of nights. I wouldn't recommend booking much furhter ahead than that.
