Botafumeiro

I hope to walk from Sarria to Santiago in June and would very much like to see the Botafumeiro in action during Mass in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
Am I correct in thinking this only happens on Friday's and Holy Days and June 8th is a Holy Day?
We have walked from St Jean Pied de la Porte along the route over the past few years.
We've had a wonderful and enriching experience and hopefully our last part of the Camino Frances in 2014 will be just as rewarding. (we've had some blisters, sore joints and hours of hobbling along too!)

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
I finished in early Nov on a thurs eve. They swung it that night but only bc someone sponsored it (I'm told).

I see nothing free for June unless it is Pentacost.

They lived up to that commitment in the summer and fall in 2013, but I am not sure if you can count on it for 2014. I checked the webcam a few times in January, and did not see it swinging at 1930.

Thanks Falcon...not the answer I was hoping to hear but the one I needed to hear. I will go with the advice posted in other posts which is to go with the flow with respect to the Botafumeiro swinging. Would really like to see it however will have to be lucky.

When I saw your posting I groaned...I leave Santiago on May 23rd and that will be a day it swings! I may get to see earlier prior to leaving for Finisterre/Muxia. Somewhere I read that groups sponsor the Botafumeiro for 250 euros...would be great if individual pilgrims could sponsor it...at 5 - 10 euros each one could expect to get to the required amount many days.

Hi Guy , I hope you can see this post, on June 8 and every Friday at 19:30 you can see the botafumeiro.
Surely there are more days sponsored by other pilgrims, but in principle they don't say, this link can see updated schedules botafumeiro,

The Santiago pilgrim office issued 3,171 Compostelas today. The second time so far this year when the total has been over 3,000. The first was on Good Friday when 3,193 Compostelas were handed out.
When I go to the pilgrim office website at the moment I am receiving a warning about the website's security certificates. Same on both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers. And if I disregard...
Hello, so my plans have slightly changed after completing the Coastal Portuguese and Finisterre/Muxia caminos on June 13. I now have 2 extra days in Santiago and was wondering where I should head...
