If we wanted to break up the walk from Palas de Rei to Santiago into 3 stops at hostels, what would be the best cities to stop in to keep the walks relatively even in the number of km hiked daily?

Palas de Rei to Santiago is about 70 kms - so three equal stages means walking around 23kms per day, which is very manageable for most people. There are lots of stopping options - the Gronze site shows the towns/villages and the different accommodations.

It might also be a good idea to get a guidebook - this will help you both at the planning stage and while you are walking.

Hi Brian. There are no more cities at this point in the Camino. There are two largish towns - Melide and Arzua, one largish village - OPedruso and the rest of the places, (see the list in The Gronze site), consist of very small villages, some only hamlets with a few houses.

If you want to avoid the larger, busier popular places, you can split the days up this way:

Palas de Rei to Boente 21.5kms
Boente to Santa Irene 26.0kms
Santa Irene to Santiago 23.5kms.

With the children we stopped before Palas de Rei,at Eirexe then Melide. Short day to Arzua then Arca and finally to Santiago
