Burgos to Biarritz for a flight home - The Best Way?

Walked in May 2012 - Burgos to Santiago; Planning to walk in May 2013 - SJPP to Burgos!
Hi There:

In May-June 2013, I will be walking from SJPP to Burgos. I will then need to return to Paris for my outbound flight home. I am trying to figure out my options for getting back to Paris. I realize that Valladolid (about 2 hours from Burgos) has an airport with flights to Paris, but no flights are direct and they can take a very long time when you account for travel to Valladolid and then the stop-over enroute to Paris. There is also the option of tracing back to the start (to SJPP and Biarritz) for a flight. Flights to Paris from Biarritz are direct. Should I pursue this latter option, what is the best way to get from Burgos back to Biarritz? Any info on trains or buses would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance, sonya :)

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hi sonya,
I started my camino from Burgos a couple of years ago and got there from the Biarritz direction. It is actually quite straightforward by train to Irun-Hendaye and then another train to Biarritz or Paris. The journey to the border is only 3.5 hours on a comfortable train and the prices are amazingly cheap. Do a search on Renfe (Burgos Rosa de Lima to Irun Hendaye) http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/index.html.

However, I think the best and cheapest way (and fast) would be to take a train from Burgos to Bilbao (only 2.5 hours) and then a direct flight to Paris. Vueling flies direct to Orly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and has some great prices.

Thanks for this info. I hadn't even considered a trip to Bilbao. That would be great and likely more straighforward. I'll have to do some research.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

You're most welcome. Enjoy a visit to the Guggenheim and the cathedral (Mass at 10.30, 12.00 on Sundays) while you're passing through :)
