The only fiction films I've been able to find about the Camino are "The Way" and "Saint Jacques...La Mecque". What I am trying to track down is a French film I saw several years ago. It was about a couple who go on the Camino and at one point they have a big fight and she heads off on her own. Does that ring a bell with anyone?

I don´t know if "La voie lactée" by Luis Buñuel is the movie you´re looking for?

JoyceTL,

As mentioned by Forum member Valinsky in the above post the French film by the Spanish director Luis Bunel La Voie Lactee/Le Via Lactea is a 1969 classic. Basically this depicts the apparently extraordinary camino of two men walking across French and Spain towards Santiago; Bunel's vision is a strong and strange mix of reality, philosophy and surrealism. Copies are still available on the net. Certain scenes and images in the more recent (and upbeat) Saint Jacques...La Mecque appear to have been directly inspired by La Voie Lactee.

Happy viewing and Buen camino,

Margaret Meredith

Thanks for the info about this Spanish Camino film. It's not the one I mean but I'll try to track it down too. The one I'm searching for is a French film, and involves a married couple -- in my memory it's a fun mixture of laughter, Camino hostel adventures, and some relationship woes.
