Time of past OR future Camino
Francés (x3), Primitivo, Podiensis
This is the post you do so that you can get your Camino on the calendar. ;)

My wife (FrancineM) and I walked our first Camino in the very early spring of 2013 - I started in Roncesvalles and she "met me halfway" in Leon.

This time, we plan to start together in St Jean Pied de Port.

We hope to fly out of Seattle on Easter Sunday, 2016.

Last time, it was 31 days for me, but this time I have more vacation time (a whole week more!), so we're going to take it easier.

A selection of Camino Jewellery
Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-

Hope you and your wife have a marvelous Camino... maybe we'll meet along the way... leaving in early April 2016 to walk my first Camino! Buen Camino...

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
65 and planning first CAMINO leaving Ireland mid March 2016. Thom, 2 questions please:
1 why put yourself 'on the calendar' and
2 what is best sleeping bag arrangement for that time of year? Really keen to keep weight to a minimum. I'm giving myself 5/6 weeks SJPdP to Santiago.
My wife will join me too ... but only at the end for a holiday!!

I like the forum calendar because it's possible to see who is walking during your time-frame. It lets you know who you might meet, and if you want to arrange a time and place, you can.

My wife and I both have Lafuma 3-season sleeping bags. They are made by a Canadian manufacturer and are very light to carry, but they provided more than enough warmth.

We had everything on our Camino from snow to blazing heat, and the bag met the challenge. Of course, we did stay in a couple of albergues that apparently didn't believe in heating a room, so you might be able to go with an even lighter bag if you are careful.

Most albergues have blankets you can borrow, so if you're going to err, err on the side of lighter.

Buen Camino!

This year is flying by. You will make your planning and make mabe lots off training walks. Wish you well and a Buen Camino, Peter.
Interesting coincidence ... I went for a short training walk last night. My first. My dogs didn't know what hit them. I also bought my backpack at the weekend. I'm planning to do SJPdP to Santiago, starting in mid-March, please God. I want to get home for some of the gardening season!
Buen Camino

T minus 214 days, and we've purchased our plane tickets.

Woo hoo!

Guides that will let you complete the journey your way.
Just 6.5 months to go and took be backpack stuffed to 6kgs. for a trial 5K walk last week and separately, over the weekend tried out my sleeping bag & liner. Both very comfortable and encouraging trials. V pleased. Now to extend the walks and try the poles and, no doubt, the poncho.
I feel like a little boy at Christmas with my new toys.

Did you decide on your sleeping bag? I'm currently eyeing one that is 2lbs (0.90 kg)and 35 degree rating. I like it because it protects your head and has a built in bag compressor. But I really am not sure! Lmk on what you decide :)

I researched a little about the climate and it seems that spring weather varies greatly? Some people are suggesting to layer with fleece and wear a beanie if you get super cold at night. And sometimes alburgues can provide extra blankets on a first come first serve basis.

Best,

Update

We will be at Beilari in SJPdP on the evening of the 29th of March. Perhaps we shall see some of you there!

Will you stop at Refuge Orisson before "going over the top"? Highly recommend. Hope the weather holds up - I had temps in lo 60's, clear blue skies April 20th. still with ice and snow on the ground but a perfect start for my Camino. They will post weather report's and close the path if necessary, which would mean taking the northern route or waiting in SJPdP. Good luck and Buen Camino!
Starting end of April for Camino Portuguese :)

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
