camino portugues - best route for female walking alone?

hi everyone, I'm Val, from Perth in Australia... did camino frances in may 2010 from SJPP, now planning to do camino portugues in sep/oct this year... haven't done much research yet, but i'm interested in hearing your views on best route for a female travelling alone (with great sense of purpose, but not a natural sense of direction :)) My first concern is safety and not getting lost... enjoy the bush as much as the beach... I sometimes suffer from hayfever (had some bad days in my last camino in spring, so chose to do autumn this time) ... I intend to do lisbon to santiago and i'd like to walk about 15-20 km on average a day if possible - how many days minimum should i allocate for the walk itself? (too much variation between the routes?)...i don't intend to take days off but i guess it would be good to allow 2 extra days for emergencies? any tips or advice highly appreciated, thanks! Val

Hey Val
I'm a Brit living in Spain and plan to walk that route around the same time with an Australian mate with whom I walked the full Camino Frances in October last year. We had two ladies for company who had a better sense of direction than we did though! But If you'd like some company, feel free to email
Cheers Rich

thanks for your reply Rich, it's always good to know people who are planning to go around the same time, speak the same language etc... I actually speak portuguese as well, and can get by with my spanish...:) i'm not sure yet when exactly i'm starting, or from where, as i just started to plan this camino... maybe we can keep in touch and see how our plans evolve... feel free to PM me if you like... where is your australian friend from? there will be a meeting of walkers in WA in July... if he or she's around, we could meet there as well...:) have you been to australia yourself? Val

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
