Hello Everyone,

I was wondering for all of you who have already walked the Camino if you could tell me about any fire regulations they may have in Spain.

I am planing to walk the Camino myself probably in late summer, I want to do most of it by camping out (privacy sake) and was wondering what the regulatons on Camping on the Camino are and if in designated camping areas if campfires are permited.

Any imput on Camping the camino would be greatly appriciated.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Campfires are not permitted. There has been a drought in recent years and a number of wildfires. While camping regulations are rarely enforced, a fire probably is a good way to get singled out!

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
We've camped about anywhere we wanted, no problem. We never dreamed of starting a fire though--there are many places that would be extremely unwise, as in dry eucalyptus.

Can't remember seeing a fire ring, official or otherwise anywhere.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!

There are barely any official campsites near the Camino.
Wild camping is not allowed.
Open fire is a a huge NO-NO (forest / wild fires).
The best possibility would be, perhaps, to plan your walking so that you end up in smaller places and can, with its permission, camp near the refuge on its meadow and use the facilities there and then sleep outside in your tent.
