¡Hola peregrinos! I'll probably walk the Camino Inglés in late Augist. Afterward, I am thinking of camping for a few days in the Cíes Islands and will need a tent and ideally a sleeping mat. Wondering if there is somewhere in Santiago de Compostela offering free/cheap camping gear? Just need something really very basic for three nights. Won't be flying home with it and will give it away once I'm done. Decathlon sells a tent for €30, but perhaps there's somewhere pilgrims donate camping gear that I could borrow from? Any suggestions? Thank you.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Check at Pilgrim House. They often get donations of used gear.

The Decathlon tents are quite good for the price. The folding mat you can get there is good, too. If you can't get anything from a donation box, it's not a bad option to buy those and donate them afterwards.

Most pilgrims don't carry camping gear.

Those who do camp because they prefer to usually have expensive gear which they of course keep and take back home. Those who camp because they have little money usually keep their cheap gear, too.

Those who brought camping gear "just in case" often donate it, but usually during the first few days from St. Jean and not in Santiago, I'd guess.

So I'm not sure how easy it will be to find something for free in Santiago.

Anyway, good luck, and have fun on your Camino and camping afterwards :)

Thanks - makes sense! I'll drop by Pilgrim House just in case, but most likely will need to visit Decathlon.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.
