Hello all,
I'm leaving Porto on March 20 and will be a slow stroller. i.e. approx 15km a day.
I noticed I'll be walking all through the easter period and am concerned about getting accommodation during that time.
Opinions from experienced pilgrims welcomed.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I was equally worried last year on the mozarabes. But for an albergue it is not affected. Because the intake is of the pilgrims en route. Although some strategic albergues may have an influx of cyclists.

Also I expect the hospitaleros contact each other to monitor the availability of their albergues and pilgrim numbers.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I would definitely book ahead for Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Sunday…..Easter celebrations in Spain and Portugal are massive and a lot of people travel to be with family and to attend church events and processions (which are something to behold and enjoy!).

You might look at smaller villages or “out of town” Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter will be the busiest. Someplaces practice Holy Week and Easter week. Trying to book rooms will expose crowding.

You are right to be concerned. When did you notice that it was Easter?

I’d make some reservations if I were you especially from the Thursday to the Monday of Easter

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Be prepared to go over budget. The smaller family run places in rural situations tend to be full of family at Easter. Everyone goes home to mum or grandma. Spend some time now on Gronze, WisePilgrim and the ilk. Work out where you’ll be and book yourself a bed. Or take a sleeping bag and trust to the humours of the gods
