Conques to Saint Jean Pied De Port-Transport help!

Hi all. Two of us are walking parts of the Camino in September. Part of our journey requires us to get from Conques to St Jean Pied De Port via public transport. I contacted a few companies and had a look at the french transport website but with no concrete answers. Rome2Rio says we could get: a bus to Rodez --> then a train to Tolouse ---> train to Bayonne---> bus to St Jean Pied de Port.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Additionally if anyone had any brilliant ideas/ companies for luggage transport from Le Puy en Velay all the way to Santiago de Compostela + storage we would be most grateful.

Thank you so much!

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

jesska13,

Welcome to the forum.

For Part 1 of your journey the info you cite for getting to Saint Jean Pied de Port from Conques on public transport is correct. There is no quick way.

If you type Conques into the blue search space at the top of this page you will find many posts re this very special place.

Conques is worth more than a mad dash in/out. If you go do take time to visit slowly. Unfortunately it can be hyper busy in season thus be prepared for weekend mobs!!

Happy planning!

jesska13,

For luggage transport on the Le Puy route see La Maile Postale.
Here is their English web re transport services for walkers.
Good luck and Bon chemin.

Hi jesska13,

some time ago I went from Conques to SJPdP as follows:

- Conques to Figeac -> La malle postale (or any other backpack transport company, there are a few)
- Figeac to Toulouse -> train SNCF
- Toulouse Bayonne -> train SNCF
- Bayonne to SJPdP -> train TER or bus
