I'm starting the Camino del Norte on Saturday from Santander. Does anyone know where I can get the credencial there?

And another thing... In my first stage I read about a railway bridge to cross in order to avoid a long deviation. Is it safe?!?

Thanks :)

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Hi,
The railway bridge is a short cut avoiding the walk round the ria after leaving Boo.I noted that it cut off about 12 kilometers. Arriving in the albergue in Santillana I was told "Todo el mundo va por alla". The locals certainly use it and it is double track so if a train does come it could be O.K. Personally I went around!!
The alternative is, catch the train - FEVE to Oviedo leaves Santander at 9.10 a.m. (but time needs checking) go to Polanco (Torrelavega) and pick up the Camino at the station. This will avoid the road walking through the suburbs of Santander and take you straight out into the countryside.
If you stay in Santillana del Mar (9 k or so on from Polanco) the church and village is well worth an afternoon 'sightseeing'.

I'm flying tomorrow to Santander, I'll check for the credencial at the albergue...and I'll think about taking the train from Santander to cross the bridge... :)
