Daily food costs on the Inglés and Norte

It is two years since we were last on the Camino and we are trying to work out a budget for daily needs apart from accomodation. Anticipating that costs may have risen can those who have recently walked either the Inglés or the Norte beyond Gijón comment on the following please:

A budget of approx 25€ per person to cover all non- accomodation costs estimating:-
Breakfast - 5€
Menu del día - 10€
Zumo de naranja - 2.50 - 3.00€
plus self- catering for another meal.

I think your numbers are very realistic based on August/September of 2014.

The Pilgrim Menu as found on the CF is not common...but the Menu del Dia is pretty normal. I would think it ran 10 to 12 euro.

There were many more pilgrims on the Norte than I expected but not anything like the CF. many were on their first Camino having avoided the reports of crowding on the Frances. Many albergues were full on various nights.
We only saw one other American couple which was surprising.

The bars and restaurants are not really pilgrim oriented as we often see on the Frances. Similar to the VdlP and the Le Puy route.

We stayed on the Norte and did not turn on the Primitivo as we are walking the Primitivo and the Portuguese this year in June.

Your budget should be very doable.

Thanks @grayland . When you say 'very doable' do you mean comfortably so? or should we up the budget a little? At the moment the exchange rate is in our favour so we could go to 30€ each and still be within our original currency budget.
We have walked the route before but are aware that time and inflation will have altered the prices.

I would think that 30 euro each would be more comfortable. I did not see anything there for Café con Leche and vino.
But....you will be starting past the more touristy areas which run up the daily costs.
You are also past the Primitivo cut-off which will greatly reduce the number of people walking. I am now recalling that the actual costs were a bit less after Gijon as the demand was much reduced and the main tourist areas are behind you.
We thought this route was very good and reminded us of the CF in earlier times. We did not go over to the Ingles but continued down to the CF and into Santiago. Big shock as expected when we hit the Frances in Arzua.
Where will you switch to the Ingles?

Thanks @grayland , just what we needed to know. Orange and beer (Terry) are the chosen beverages rather than vino. We actually start walking in Ribadeo but along the coast (Camino do Mar), so will be in some more touristy areas for a while. After San Andrés de Teixido and Cedeira we will bus to Ferrol for the Camino Inglés. We avoid the big shock of the Francés after the Primitivo which we experienced at Palas de Rei - more pilgrims in the bar for breakfast than we had seen all the way - but expect that Santiago itself could be more crowded than 3 years ago.
Enjoy the Primitivo, it is truly wonderful.

I would agree with Grayland that you think of about 30€ per day. My experience with the menu de dia last September and October is that it was 12€-15€-- sometimes you could find it for 10€ or 11€, but you could not be certain. Still, I found that pilgrims on the del Norte occasionally received a complimentary shot of orujo to improve our spirituality.

Just looking through my journal from my Camino Ingles last March and these are some of the prices I have written down. I started from Ferrol.
They are similar to your costings
breakfast toast,fresh orange juice, coffee and bottle of water to take with me 6.50€ and 5.50
Coffee and beer stops were usually between 1 and 1.50€ usually including cake or tapas.
Meals cost between 7.50 and 8.50€ some menu del dia others just off the tapas menu depending on the place.
My shopping for the long day between Betanzos and Bruma cost just under 3€.
Wine was good value ranging from 40 centimos to 2€ usually with tapas.
I stayed in hostels so it depended what was included, just let me know if you want any info where I stayed and ate.

According to Peter Robins the "Club Montana de Ferrol" have way marked the trail from Ferrol to Cedeira and on to San Andrés ( 50km total ) so you could just keep walking to Ferrol from Cedeira - no need to bus it !

It could be a cheap walk as there is reported to be no food and no accomodation for about 40kms .
Seriously we have researched and decided that for us the best plan is to bus down to Ferrol, and time constraints also make this the best option. However the link to Peter Robins' info would be good, maybe over on the Camino do Mar thread so others see it too. We have links to the Lugo amigos site but all info is good, the more the better.

Budget decided based on the 30€ per day each plus accomodation costs, money exchanged at a very good rate, accomodation booked and travel. Two happy pilgrims waiting for their departure date to arrive. Meanwhile we keep on walking.........................
