descent into Zubiri

Im off trecking this weekend, just wondering if anyone knows the current conditions regarding the descent into Zubiri..

We're calling it "The Dragon's Back" if that's any indication.
There are sections where the ruts are anywhere from 6 to 10 inches deep.
It's slippery as snot in the rain.
It's do-able of course, but watch every step, not the scenery.
And if you're already exhausted I highly recommend a taxi from Viskarret.

We walked it today. Very dry but lots of sections of jagged rocks. Just took our time and used walking poles. Nothing worse than the Lake District or Croagh Patrick in Ireland.

Completed this section two days ago in dry weather with poles. I am a mature pilgrim and I took this section slow and steady. Could have been more challenging if it had been wet.

We were a little crazy. We found a bit of a jog made the trip down pretty enjoyable. I DID pay for it later but my incredible partner just laughs when we remember that.
We kinda ran down the other side of Alto de Perdon too...
Not sure what would of happened if they had been wet!

If I remember correctly, my son jogged down while I took it slow and easy. Then I went on to develop knee issues while he was fine, (admittedly, he was almost 16 at the time and I was closer to 53).

I once ran down from the top of from Ben Nevis, the Youth Hostel trail that is going straight up, not the tourist trail from Fort William.
This Geordie trailrunner convinced all 5 of us that the eye detects faster than the brain computes and so we were 3 hours up, 45 minutes running down, like goats jumping from stone to stone. Water will wash all sandy material away on trails and leave only larger stones.. The glee of whooshing down was immense and bubbly..all succeeded and no one fell..
That was 50 years ago, thankfully I am wiser now
That remains one of the things that I will never do again !!.. Now it is all walking poles for me....

Yes, yes and yes.

This is also how I used to like to ride my motorcycle when I needed to clear my mind, so fast that thinking was too slow.

Very therapeutic when I had youthful reaction times. Not something to be done in my dotage unless I want an early exit from this world.

When I walked back in late March, there were also a few felled trees completely blocking the path. I couldn't simply hop over the trunk, as it was raining and I had a poncho covering me. Also I'm short, so there's that. I had to go off the path, around the gnarled root system and I completely ate it, mud all down the side of me. Maybe the trees have been cleared, but fair warning anyways.
