Time of past OR future Camino
I am planning to walk the Camino for the first time, from Leon to Santiago, starting in mid-January 2016!
Hi all,

I am conducting a short(ish) 25 question survey on pilgrim experiences of the Camino for my university dissertation and need responses!

It is a mixture of multiple choice and open ended questions so you can take as long or as short amount of time as needed! Responses would be much appreciated.

Many thanks and Bien Camino!

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Done.
Good luck, Chloe!
I assume by now you've walked yourself? If not, please consider a little summer 'field work' ...a month or so will give you many opportunities to do face to face interviews, beginning with yourself! ;)

Done. I suppose that, as a student on anthropology, you are familiar with the concept of "participant observation". Well, do it, as suggested above.
A methodological note: it is possible that members of this forum does not represent your "average pilgrim", but those more enthusiasts, and also more compromised with the "Camino spirit"
Most pilgrims are still Spanish, with sizeable groups of Portuguese, Italians, Germans and, recently, Koreans. See the stats from the Compostela archbishopric.
Good dissertation!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

I hope all these "student surveys" we are regularly asked to fill are not for original Ph. D work or else they risk being onsolete the minute they are defended. Ans don't forget to add a "does not apply" or "do not know" answer option. But your questions about what walkers communicate about were interesting, I just can't remember what I chatted about...

Thank you so much for all of your replies! I do know surveys are very annoying so I really appreciate your responses!
Bien Camino

A pleasure to have such a well thought out and original survey to fill in - it made me think and brought back such fond memories.

Thanks.

Done. Interesting. You could possibly have made some of the answer boxes multi-line, to encourage more response eg. for the story question.

Done.

I found several of the questions, taken at face value, to be phrased in such a way as to appear to have a bias and not a neutral, objective perspective. Possibly there is an objective or context for the question that isn't readily apparent to the respondent, but I found one question particularly off-putting, and I noted it as such in my response.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Done. There are two questions I would have liked to have answered:
1. What was your mental attitude a week after returning home, and
2. Do you intend on doing it again?

Good luck.

Another completed. A very well composed set of questions - they made me think about those 4 weeks. Good luck with your doctorate/masters?

Tried to do it but the survey is now closed apparently. Let us know if you're planning to reopen it and I'll happily fill it in.

Thank you so much for all of your answers! Unfortunately I have begun to analyse my data so I cannot reopen the survey, but thank you everyone for participating! I will definitely post up my results when I have finished!
Many thanks and Bien Camino!
