Dogs

I am a 64 year old woman from Santa Barbara California. I will be walking alone for 2 weeks from Leon the beginning of September. Do I need to bring protection from wild dogs.

We wil be walking the same stretch at the same time....we could *be* your protection! (we are dad, mum, eight kids and Grandpa)!!!!!

Do you mean 'wild dogs' as in dingoes etc. Or stray dogs? Wild dogs - none to my knowledge. Stray dogs - poor souls, I like to share some bread with them.

Not unless you're particularly afraid of dogs, in which case you might take one of those ultrasonic devices for peace of mind. It's unlikely that you'll need it though.

Some of the working farm dogs will bark at you as you pass, but they'll be behind a gate or fence. Dogs in the street are usually friendly or asleep.

As far as I know there are no wild dogs as such, and there's no rabies either.
