Easter is a busy time - I rememeber hardly having a bean in my pocket and standing in a queue at an Albergue in big city - it was supposed to be the most HOLY time of the year - yet when the Albergue door opened it was much like a food riot............ I wonder .......... how many of those people really needed that accomodation - I was walking with an elderly Woman.....we got on well and chatted about life in general; I was going to make sure that she got a bed ..... in the Bun Fight , I pushed her though the Albergue entrance............ then I stood back , untill all had gone through ..I got the second last bed , and boy did I need it.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Guy - some people view staying in albergues as proof of their piety and worth as pilgrims. The traditional, donativo albergues were meant for pilgrims who wouldn't be able to afford to walk the Camino if they had to pay for accommodation every night.
I agree with you - if the albergue looks as though it is filling up - and if you can afford a private albergue or room, leave the donativo beds to those who need them. If the albergue is fairly empty by late in the afternoon, by all means make use of it. They need numbers to warrant their continued existence.

We are in SJPP today While we were standing in line today, one of my pilgrims met 3 people from Taiwan, who could not find a bed. He said he also saw several people on their phones, frantically...
