First Camino in Nov 2018

I am planning on doing my Camino in November of 2018...wondering about the weather and any thoughts ideas would be most appreciated.

The weather is likely to be decent. There is the possibility of early snow. Many places will be closed, so plan accordingly.

Mornings can be quite chilly. You may need lightweight hat and gloves. Warm to hot afternoons. Then back to chilly nights.

And. if you are starting in SJPP and walking on to Santiago you may have snow in some of the mtn passes.

Also, the wind does like Spain.

I found November to be an all weathers occasion. Come prepared.

If you sleep cold take a sleeping bag. Because, not all the albergues will turn on the heat.

Each night ask the hospitaleros which albergues are open. You may have to walk a few extra steps to find one.

This is a wonderful time to go. Fewer amenities open, fewer pilgrims on the way, but enough of both to really enjoy yourself.

Plan well! Many albergues in both France and Spain are closed from El Día de Todos los Santos - All Saints/Souls Day including the Orisson Albergue so check your planned stops well ahead of time - The Church Saint Mary of Eunate is open, worth the detour but watch the hours.. The weather is a'changing so come an early heavy snowstorm and you may not even be allowed to set out from SJPP - in any case bring your long-johns! Spanish food in the winter is quite hardy, just what is needed.
