First time on the Camino coming up in 2024!

Time of past OR future Camino
March 2024
Hello all! My wife and I will be embarking on our first Camino pilgrimage in March 2024. Due to work constraints I only have enough time to do the first 100 or so km, so we plan to start in Sarria. If all goes well we hope to return when I have a longer sabbatical another time, perhaps from SJPP to complete the entire CF. I'm hoping that even though we're embarking on the single most populous leg of the Camino, it might not be too crowded in mid-March (though I'm sure it will be plenty wet). Has anyone here been in Galicia in March? How was it? Was the Camino crowded? Bed rush problems? Thanks in advance for any advice.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
It’s Galicia, it rains sometimes. Beds won’t be an issue in March. You’ll meet pilgrims, but no more than you’ll need to.
Buen Camino

If you can avoid the week leading up to Easter, the crowds will be much less.
Good to know! It looks like Easter is on 3/31 this year, so our trip will overlap a little with the week prior to Easter actually. In my mind Easter is always in April (of course that isn't true) so I admit I didn't even consider that in my trip planning calculus. I suppose there might be more Easter revelry in Santiago de Compostela than I'd planned and that's ok as long as we have a place to sleep!

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Spaniards often go on Camino during Holy week so book a place in Santiago well in advance. If you are walking that week, you will certainly have company on the journey.
Good advice! I’ll make it a priority.
