Camino Frances (July, 2017)
Hi everybody!
I am a danish girl (22 y/o) who will walk the camino for the first time in July. I will spend 2 weeks on the Camino Frances, starting off in Ponferrada. Is it necessary to book hostels in advance? I know that there are many people walking on the road this month, and since it is my first time I am actually kind of nervous and I am probably over-thinking everything, haha! Please do help and give any advice that you have!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Hi Alberte!
You probably don't need to book in advance. Maybe the first night, so you have a place to sleep when you arrive.
After that, if you do not find a place easily, you can always walk a bit more, or taxi to the next town and return to your stop point the next morning to resume walking.

You will love it, the Fortress in ponferrada is pretty cool!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hi Alberte,

I was too clueless to even consider the possibility of there not being accommodation a couple of years back. It happened to me once in a month (I walked another 5kms and was fine) but as long as you're flexible enough to go for plan "b" "c" or even "d" I wouldn't worry. There'll always be a bed somewhere, so the real question is; what do you value most, convenience or spontaneity?

Buen Camino,

Rob.

Lucky you
.. The first is the best. Bien camino

Wondering if you are stuck, without a bed, in the middle of the Camino, in a very small town...can we expect to get a taxi to another location where beds might be available?
