Hola! fellow pilgrims,

My partner Joy and I are doing our first walk. Spending 5 days in Madrid to start then catching a train to Sarria.

A quick question, should we pre book the train fare now or wait till in Madrid?

Many thanks and can't wait,

Kev

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Hey Kev,

Just taking a look at the Renfe Website it seems like it may be worth booking ahead. For instance most of the trains heading to SdC from Madrid tomorrow are already full and the tickets that are still available are quite pricey. I'd say if you definitely know when you want to go, best to book ahead. I remember when I tried to book at the last minute three years back it actually ended up being almost as cheap and way more convenient to fly.

BTW just hit welcome at the top for English translation.

Buen Camino,

Rob.

Hi Rob,

Thanks heaps for that. Will definitely book tickets tomorrow.

Can't find welcome but your post is in English so all good mate,

Thanks again :) Kev

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Ah, sorry, that was kind of stupid of me. I meant the "welcome" button on the Renfe site, but then went and put that bit as far away as possible in my post . I blame having just woken up.

Haha no worries! Definitely cheaper going through Renfe site. I went through the trainline website originally and $30 aussie dearer so thanks for the website link. Appreciated. We are now booked :)

Cheers,

Kev

Good call @Kevmac - mainly because of the waiting-in-line time to buy a ticket on the spot. The "linea d'espera" translates as the "line of despair"....

Ideal pocket guides for during and after your Camino. Each weighs just 40g (1.4 oz).
Haha I would not enjoy that Kanga! Tickets purchased so we are good to go. Can't wait!
