The Via Francigena Association has put up an events diary on it's site for those that might want more information locally to them, or simply to take part in events along its route. There is an Ultramarathon for the really fit. There is a bike marathon but I'm the wrong shape in more than one sense of the word.

Actually useful for those of us wishing to avoid the events as they often create a shortage of available rooms for unwary or uninformed pèlerin… happened to me twice this summer on the French and Swiss sections.
