Getting FROM St. Jean to Roncesvillas.

A little twist. I have friends walking from Le Puy. They were going to meet me in Somport but were held up and cannot meet me. They will arrive in St. Jean on or about October 27th. We checked on Rome to Rio and there was nothing that would work. The only bus they have listed is from Valcarlos and that one runs just once a week. I was thinking maybe they should either walk to Roncesvalles (who knows what the weather will be like) or take a taxi from St. Jean to Roncesvalles. I saw the Artieda bus from Roncesvalles that leaves every day at 9:20. If anyone has knowledge of a better way to go or if you know this is really the best way to get there, please let me know. Many thanks to you all.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

So are you not walking from Somport as originally planned? Will you be walking from Roncesvalles instead? Maybe Express Bouricott part of the way? Then walk the rest of the way to Roncesvalles? They go up to the top near the border on the Napoleon Route.

No I am walking from Somport for sure. I was just asking for them. As things have turned out there is a very good chance I will not even meet them anywhere. I was really looking forward to seeing them again. (Maybe next year!). I leave tomorrow for New York. Spend 5 days with my older daughter and leave for Barcelona on the 18, arrive the 19th, sleep in Zaragoza on the 20th. I did this because the arrival time is much better into Canfranc Station. Get to Canfranc station about noon. Hop on a bus to Somport (or if I must a taxi) and walk down to Canfranc and stay in that awesome albergue that you guys are help making famous! Thanks for asking. Hope my itinerary wasn't too boring.
In conclusion to make things alot shorter. Just trying to help two camino close friends out!

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Hey, we stayed at the EuroStarshotel in the Zaragoza station. No really good food options, but right there at the station to get on your train the next morning. We also stayed at a great AirBNB in town that is easily available by bus. Good if you have some time in the old town. PM me if you want any details.

Just seeing your post now. I'm reliably informed there are currently works on the line between Zaragoza and Canfranc Estacion. There are bus replacements along sections but it's messy. My fellow hospi (from Zaragoza) tells me best bet is to just take bus from Zaragoza to Jaca, then bus straight up to Somport.

This didn't affect me as I came in from Oloron, but I thought I should let you know to give you time to plan..

Here is the Jaca to Somport schedule, it's a pleasant journey and punctual! Hope to see you in Canfranc, if not to stay, drop in and say hello!

Edit: looking at the schedules, the 12:00 bus from Jaca up to Somport would be best option and ideal for you to make it down to Canfranc by 3pm or so, but failing that, the 14:50 bus will still get you down in plenty of daylight for around 6pm.

I will definitely be sleeping in the Canfranc Albergue Friday night. Hope to see you there.
