Time of past OR future Camino
2023
We have long planned to walk the Camino in 2024, the year I turn 70. Much to my surprise this last Friday (April 21) my wife suggested we go now for a practice Camino! On Saturday we bought our packs and stuffed with about 15 pounds and went out for a 6 mile walk with the Seattle Eastside Camino group. We fly to Paris on May 1. We return from Barcelona on May 19, so this trip with be the first leg.
We will be leaving SJPP on Thursday May 4. We will walk part way to Roncesvalles, taxiing back to SJPP and then the next morning taxi back up to to spot we stopped.
I have been mostly lurking here on the forum for some time now. I have learned much here.
Although I expected to have another year to plan and collect gear I don't feel that we are grossly underprepared.
Thank you all!
I find the fact that we know we cannot reach Santiago de Compostela rather liberating. We will walk as far as makes sense to us each day. We have replaced the goal of getting it done with enjoying the experience.
See you on the Camino.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
I never bother training for the Camino, so I guess I am always underprepared too. It's never been a problem though as I take each Camino steadily. Sounds like you are doing the right thing by not walking the first stage all at once and just taking it how you feel. Buen camino.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
May is a great time for it. I remember lots of wildflowers, poppies and fresh green growth. Why would you rush through that?? Enjoy! Buen Camino.
