Hello! Just joined, want to make the Pilgrimmage from France

I just joined, and I'm having a hard time finding out how to start the Pilgrimmage from Paris. I've seen references to starting from various points, but it doesn't seem to be done much. I wonder about refugios and pilgrimmage hostels IN france.

Is it possible? is it a good idea to start in May, or should I just take a train or bus to Roncevalles and start it the normal way?

Perplexed in Philadephia.

Starting in Paris

Hola perplexed pilgrim,
Where to start will depend on how much time have you got. And, more importantly, how much you can budget for your trip.
I spent 3 days in Paris walking around finding all the evidence of St Jacques. We then got a train to Orleans and started walking from there to Spain. It took us 28 days to reach Roncesvalles. There are very few pilgrim refuges until you get to just south of Bordeaux so it can be quite costly - especially if you are on your own.
If you have time why not start in Bordeaux and walk all the way to Finisterre? Besides the one Ivar has given you, good websites for the Via Turonensis (walk through Tours from Paris) is Peter's website: http://www.peterrobins.co.uk
Then in France: http://www.compostelle.asso.fr/.
In the landes: http://www.compostelle-landes.com/
Other web sites: http://www.philippe@doph.net

If you do start in Paris, it is worth getting the "Paris City Guide" from the CSJ UK and also "Paris to the Pyrenees" guide.
Good luck with your planning.
