Help charting journey

Hola listeros! I will be completing the entire Camino this summer alone, setting off late June and finishing late July. My sister will be joining up with me for approximately 6 days at some point along this journey. Because of our schedules, she will not be able to join up for the final stretch and end with me in Santiago. She will have to join me more along the beginning or middle part of the journey. Right now I am trying to determine where she should meet up with me. Any recommendations?

I was thinking of having her meet me at Pamplona and hiking from there. From Pamplona, how far could we get if we were hiking at a good pace? (While enjoying ourselves and not trying to have a race!) My sister needs to book a return flight from wherever she ends up (probably taking a bus from the village/town to Madrid and then returning home). Which leads me to my second question, do most of these villages/towns have bus stations that provide service to Madrid?

Hi Katie -

Pamplona works, but Burgos to Sahagun also come to mind and they're closer to Madrid. The distance can be walked in 6 days. But have a look at mundicamino.com and godesalco.com to review the etapas and pick a section that works best for you. Bus service to Madrid is very good from most places on the Camino Frances.

I'd recommend the 120km stretch between Logrono and Burgos in the La Rioja region - great food and wine, and the landscape should be very colourful in the summer.
