I'm looking at arriving in SJPDP on 19th May 2012 from the UK.
I'm looking for a bit of guidance and or recommendations as to a nice cheap hotel or B&B in SJPDP ready to start my camino on the Monday 21st...
If I'm not to late I hope to book the accommodation early Jan.. any pointers gratefully received...

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Re: Hotel or B&B in SJPDP

One great advantage to an albergue is that you will meet many other pilgrims to start you journey. This can be a great way to start over the mountain.

If you would like to stay with a fellow Brit who is an expert on the weather, the path, the food etc you could stay with Tim Proctor at Errecaldia B&B http://errecaldia.com

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

Sillyodll,

Many thanks for the link, I'm very impressed with Tim's website and the guestbook... I'm now waiting for a reply from Tim as to if there are any vacancies for the dates I want... "fingers and toes crossed" :D

Happy Holiday and Thank You all for your help...

I'll hold thumbs for you!
When you arrive in St Jean, make your way to the main street in the old centre - Rue de la Citadelle. You can register at the Pilgrim's Office at No.39 and collect a Credencial. They close between 12.30 and 1:30 for lunch but otherwise are open from 7h30 to 22h30.
When you leave there, continue up the hill and through the St Jacques Gate. You will see Erracaldia on the left about 100m from the gate.

If you are planning on stopping at Orisson on the way up the Pyrenees, I would suggest you email them as well to book a place. They have 18 places, in a dormitory, but it will give you the camaraderie that Grayland referred to. If they don't have space inside, they will offer you a two-person tent. If you don't fancy the idea of that, get a taxi to fetch you from Orisson and take you back to Tim's place for the night - then the same taxi can tak you up to Orisson the next morning and you can continue your walk to Spain. I have done this with great success.
