Hi!

I want to do my 3rd Camino in May 2023. Since my son wants to accompany me this time, I have to plan something in advance. We'll arrive in Santiago on Saturday 27th by plane around 4:30pm, so I need a tip on the easiest way to get to Ferrol on the same day.

I'll appreciate any suggestions.

Train for your next Camino (or keep the Camino spirit alive) on Santa Catalina Island
You can get a bus at the airport entrance to the bus station in Santiago, then get a bus from there to Ferrol...

Here’s a screen shot with bus times for a Saturday in January (nothing yet published for May 2023, but times are likely to be very similar). You can see two options with times that would be do-able with a 4:30 pm arrival, though the 6 pm may be tough unless you take a cab.

The bus to Ferrol leaves from the intermodal station in Santiago, so you will have to get from the airport to the station. Cabs are a fixed price of 20-something, and there is a bus from the Santiago airport to the bus station. Info on it at this website. My understanding is that the direct airport bus has been discontinued and there is a new bus route that both serves the airport and the people who live along the way and use it from non-airport transportation.

There ae a few evening buses that go to Ferrol. The Bus station is connected to the train station in SDC. I had to buy my tickets to Ferrol when I got the bus stations. Check out Rome2rio.com for schedules and links to the time tables.

There's a train at 21:31 which gets in at 23:23 on the *current* timetable. As timetables change you should check the Renfe site for the date in question.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Thank you very much!

So we'll try to get the bus 6A to the E.I. and then one of the 2 busses to Ferrol and still could use a train as backup! I'll check the timetables 1 month before.

I also didn't know that there is a direct bus between the aeroport and the E.I..
Google said there's no bus and Rome2Rio said that there'll be only 3 on Monday...
Seems I have to thrust in moovit.

Made that trip this past spring coming from Toronto to Ferrol. We didn't want to risk missing the first bus and took a cab from the airport to the bus station.
The bus ride is nice, and does stop at towns on the Camino route.
We got off at an early stop in Ferrol just before the station as the bus station there was not as near to where we stayed in the old town.
While we really enjoyed it, we did get a lot of rain.
Have a great Camino!
