I am wondering...

I am wondering...

...if some of you "old" pilgrims have noticed this sign on any of the restaurants/bars along the Camino (Frances)...?? (i cannot remember seeing them on my earlier walks... maybe because I didn't know about them)

I am given these restaurant tickets through my job in Barcelona, and if they can be used along the way it would be a little money to save on the "Menú del Peregrino"... as they are valid in the whole of Spain.

Jan,

Thank you ;-) Yes I am able to read spanish and I already know this site as I am giving these ticket at work in Barcelona. ;-)

The reason I asked in this forum was... it is too much work looking up all the pueblos I pass and might spend the night... So I only wondered if anyone could recall seeing these stickers on retaurant/bar- doors. (I guess I am being lazy ;-) )

But well... I might look up a few places when I have an idea on where I might stay...

Hi Anette,

I have seen these stickers around Santiago at least... I really do not remember how often I have seen them, but they are used.

I am assuming that they are in use at the more busy restaurants, I am thinking that the "mom-and-pop" places might not be part of this.

Saludos,
Ivar

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
...Thanks all,

Well, I'll bring a "book" of them (it's like a book of checks") - they do not weigh much, less than coins anyway. If I can use them along the way it will be some real money saved and if not... I'll spend them on a nice meal in Santiago... :-D

Ticket Restaurant is a way to save taxes for companies.

They give to employees some tickets to be used just on restaurants. Employees don't spend money at lunch time and companies earns money when they have to pay taxes.

So, Restaurants that can let you to pay with this tickets use to be on big cities (Madrid, Barcelona, etc) and in populations with quite big.

Sometimes when I've walked I've been looking for the Ticket Restaurant sign on the windows or doors of the Restaurants but I've never seen any.

It doesn´t let to the pilgrim to save money, you have to pay the same, but with this tickets.

Buen Camino,

Javier Martin
