Internal travel COVID requirements

Time of past OR future Camino

Dear friends, my name is Luap and I am finally (I’m 53!) walking the Camino Frances, starting on 29th September. It had been a dream of mine to do so for the past 30 years. I am walking alone.
I presently live in Spain so will be traveling to SJDP via internal plane ( Alicante-Madrid/Pamplona) then lift to SJDP.
My question is about Covid testing requirements for those traveling from inside Spain. Does anyone know what I have to do? I have no idea and am getting anxious. Also once a pilgrim leaves SJDP and walks into Spain, are there any test requirements? What do we have to do? To give as evidence?
I would be really grateful for any thoughts or advice as I’m on my own and don’t want to be stopped before I even begin.
Although I’m anxious about this and the thought of failure ( can I do it? Will I be ok? Etc) I really look forward to meeting the “strangers who are yet to become friends “ along the way.
Thank you in anticipation for your time and help. Luap.

Cannot offer any advice on COVID requirements. It is sufficiently complex for us traveling from the United States. And the target keeps moving. I did want to float my name by you as we might meet on the Camino. We'll be walking out of SJPDP on Tuesday 28 September. Flights into Madrid on Sunday, connecting Iberia flight that afternoon to Pamplona, then van is being arranged. Monday is rest day in SJPDP. We'll be a foursome of "Senior Citizens". I'm the designated "chronicler" for the group, updates on Facebook but I'll be checking this Forum. Buen Camino in advance! Gracias!

I’d recommend checking with your local public health department or Ministry of Health for the latest rules—everything changes these days as you know. Congratulations on achieving this lifelong dream and Buen Camino!

Luap & Dogbreath - we may cross paths soon. We're from Wisconsin. we'll be flying Chicago to Lisbon and then to Barcelona. We expect to start the Frances from SJPD on Sept 25. We are a threesome of seniors, 2 women and 1 good looking & humble guy - me :). I'm interested in any Covid requirements and best way to get from Pomplona to SJPD.

Brilliant Douglas, and thank you for getting in touch. I start the morning of 30th September but I’m sure we’ll meet along the way! Safe journey over and let’s hope we all bump it each other!

Thank you! I really appreciate that and hope I am up to the challenge and the journey. I shall check in locally and see what updates we get as time goes on. Thanks for tour thoughts.

I think you will have a wonderful time. If you want travel companions I’m sure there will be plenty—since you speak Spanish and English I predict you will be very popular. If you want time alone you can do that as well. Go at your own pace and you can manage the physical part. Buen Camino!

So frustrating. The websites are very confusing. Coming from Canada, transmitting through Germany and into Bilbao Spain. It looks like I need the Spain QR code but will that suffice with proof of vaccination through Germany. It looks like Frankfurt is my initial EU stop, then flying into Spain is considered domestic and requirements change. Help!

I too travelled Alicante-Madrid-Pamplona but by train. I have had the two vaccines but no-one asked me anything. That was in June though! Masks are compulsory of course.
To avoid trouble in France (the rules at the time seemed to change from day to day 🙄) I simply started from Pamplona. Have you considered starting from Roncesvalles or is it not an option? Just a thought…

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.
