About to begin Camino Francis
I dropped my iPhone 6 and cracked the screen. Is it possible to get it replaced in Santiago? If so, can you suggest a location?

Prepare for your next Camino on California's Santa Catalina Island, Oct 27 to Nov 2

closed today...they might be able to point you in the direction of repair shop . they were very helpful to me when I had filled up my memory but couldn't delete because I didn't have a computer to which I could sync.
or ask at your hotel/albergue, there's undoubtedly a myriad of repair shops/kiosks...

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

When my iPhone screen cracked and then again on my first Camino, I used scotch tape to hold things together. Unfortunately, when I got home and asked at the Apple store about replacing it, they said it couldn't be done. Hopefully this has changed over the last few years. But it continued to function until I could afford to replace it.

I think the company line would be that...but I also found the clerks at the store to be willing to bend a bit for a desperate pilgrim (me ) ...one might say "you never heard it from me but..."
They own iPhones too, probably, so could know a place. I wouldn't expect help at my local store ---sad pilgrim eyes don't get you very far :)

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
On my last camino I had to get my iPhone screen replaced in Pontferrada when the battery expanded and pushed the screen out..... Obviously not a good idea to carry a phone in a pocket next to the skin for days on end when walking in hot weather! I did not go to an Apple store but found a mobile repair shop.

I had a screen replaced in Santiago (at outrageous cost) in a shoe repair kiosk. As advised above, if it is just a cracked screen with no other issue, I would just buy a screen-saver to hold it in place. If you have your iPhone repaired with non genuine iPhone parts, your guarantee will be void and if anything else goes wrong later, the Apple Store will not help you. I speak from bitter experience.

It appears that the store in Santiago sells Apple products but is not an Apple Retail Store with a genius bar (etc). http://www.apple.com/retail/storelist/ I would wait until I could visit an actual Apple store. There are quiet a few in Madrid if you are going through there.

Did you find a place in Santiago to have your phone fixed. Mine is damaged also and in desperate to have the screen replaced when I get there... Thanks so much! Buen Camino!

It seems a number of people here have damaged their iPhone screens, am I correct in assuming that none of these phones had a screen protector on them? It's a bit of a worry if the screens were damaged even with the screen protector.

I don't know about the people above, I dropped my a lot (on the camino and a lot at home) and in about a decade (?) of iphones haven't broken a screen...I have a protective casing for the edges, and film over the glass. I did, however, encounter the untimely death of two other non-smart cellphones in 90 days on the camino--the first, my water bottle leaked onto, the second, the maids at the hostal dos reis catolicos threw into a washing machine after picking it up with the bath towels.

Ideal pocket guides for during and after your Camino. Each weighs just 40g (1.4 oz).

I asked the question because like you I've abused my phone (unintentionally) and have never suffered any damage.
