People of faith representing a range of denominations are walking a roundabout route from New London to New Haven in an effort to draw attention to the need for peace in a war-weary world.
The group was on the way from Danbury to Monroe on Friday evening, and will complete their journey today in New Haven. The walkers were scheduled to spend Friday night at St. Peter's Episcopal Church on Old Tannery Road in Monroe.
According to its leader, the Rev. Emmett Jarrett of St. Francis House in New London, most of the walkers informally join the group and walk for varying periods of time -- some for a few hours, some for a week or more. Three, however, are waking the entire route. They left New London in mid-September. The pilgrims' 800-mile, 43-day route has taken them across southern New England, including Providence, Boston, Hartford and Danbury.

They will stay tonight at the Episcopal Church of St. Paul and St. James, 57 Olive St., New Haven. On Sunday night, they will stay at the United Church of Christ on the New Haven Green, Temple and Elm streets.

Anyone interested in walking with the Pilgrims for Peace, can call the Rev. Emmett Jarrett on his cell phone at (860) 389-2015.

Hi Sil,
Well, I live in Connecticut - about 22km from Danbury and 18 from Monroe, and this is the very first time I've heard anything about this walk. Just amazing.
Buen Camino,
