Thank you. How challenging would it be to walk from Ronceville to Zabilka? It really depends on what you mean by 'not good' and where you have read this. Alternatively you could always stay in Zubiri or walk on to Zabilka. Buen Camino, SY
We made the trip in May 2008, so information is dated. Having done the Chemin St. Jacques (GR 65) we were in decent shape, but found we had run out of steam by Larrasoana. The municiple albergue did not appear to be an option, so thought about going on, but the next listed albergue was Trinidad d"Arre about ten kilometers further on. Zabaldika was not yet up and running.Thank you. How challenging would it be to walk from Ronceville to Zabilka?
A magical place, and the nuns who run the albergue are angels.Zabaldika http://caminodesantiago.consumer.es/albergue-parroquial-de-zabaldika is 6 or 7km after Larasoana, a long day, but doable.
thank you for this information, it sounds greatI can't speak for the municipal in Larrasoana, but when I passed through last October I stayed in Albergue San Nicolas and it was brilliant. Lovely host, delicious home-cooked dinner, small rooms (mine only had 3 bunks in) and brand new bathrooms. The owner and his wife seemed very kind and I was grateful to have the opportunity to stay there.
Is it possible for pilgrims to stay one night in the abbey?A magical place, and the nuns who run the albergue are angels.
There is also The Abbey, just past Ilarratz between Zubiri and Larasoana:

Echo the recommendation about San Nicolas in Larrasoana. Stayed there in late April and was very good introduction to a good private albergue. Clean, relatively small number of beds per room, lockers, good dinner, nice outdoor area, good small tienda next door.
