Frances SJPDP to SDC May & June 2017
I will arrive in Madrid on 16 May, 2017 from Atlanta. I am thinking about flying to Biarritz the same day and doing a ride share to SJPDP. I do have a few questions. How long does it take to clear customs in Madrid? I will only have a 18 lb backpack which I plan to take in the cabin rather than check. What I am trying to decide is when could I expect to be ready for the outbound flight.

I am thinking about staying 2 nights in SJPDP and booking Orisson for 18 May. I don't think I want to begin with a long climb and a jet lagged body. Does this plan sound reasonable? Time is not a problem. I have planned for 6 weeks which may or may not end in Santiago. Anything that I should be sure not to miss in SJPDP? Recommendations on places to stay?

I don't want to over plan, but also don't want to feel totally lost from the start. Advice is welcomed.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I would suggest planning on minimum 1 hour to clear the airport.

I would suggest allowing a further minimum of 3 hours after clearing the airport before departure of onward travel. This is to allow for delays ... the most likely of which is late arrival of your flight to Madrid. It also allows for items such as check-in for your next flight. Anything less means elevated risk that you eat your fare.

If everything goes like clock work ... the worst case scenario is that you wait.

@Eddiebee You have the perfect attitude I think! But could it feel a bit strange being in SJPP two nights? It's a place where nearly everyone stays one night, they get all excited over dinner and form little groups, and then depart very early the next morning - you might feel a bit odd and left out. Might be nicer to stay one night in Bayonne or Biarritz and one in SJPP.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

I think that might be a very good idea. I would like to see the beach in Biarritz anyway. Thanks for the input.
