My Camino. Your Camino

Well it has been 1 year since I left on my Camino and I have reflected back on that time with all the great people I met along the way from every corner of the world. Here is some advise for all you people starting out soon. Don't have any expectations...... The Camino will take you where you have to go. In body, mind, spirit. Stay in albergues and hostiles.... Yes they are not the Hilton but when in Rome do as the Romans do. You will get to experience the food, culture and people from everywhere. Don't be in a hurry. I never saw anyone sleeping on the ground unless they wanted to and that wasn't all that often. Some places are better than others, but again it's the people. You are not there long. Most times it a shower and a bed. On to gear. If you don't need it leave it or buy it on the Camino. An iPhone gives you music, emails, and free FaceTime, and a camera. That's all you need. The Camino isn't a fashion show, so stay comfortable and light. If your pack is to heavy or your having physical problems, use Jacotrans. 5 euros takes your gear to your next location and its safe, cheap, and there when you arrive. They are very trustworthy. Bring a paper journal. Take time to re find yourself. You'll have it. You don't need a cheap camera, use your iPhone. Prepare to have one of the most fulfilling adventures of your life because you will. Remember don't be in a hurry you might pass up something and eventually you will get to Santiago or Finisterre and when you do you'll wish you didn't. You wont want it to end. Go and enjoy, may you all have a Camino like I did......

Great thoughts. I almost feel like i have read too much. Leaving next week and will be spending the remaining days trying to get that pack light as possible.
I agree with you! I feel like I have overloaded on information and am spinning out of control! But, like Rich's earlier post said...The Camino will take you where you need to go!
Buen Camino to you!
