New albergue in Caborredondo

As anyone who stayed in the albergue in Bodenaya on the Primitivo knows, Alex was a hospitalero extraordinaire! He has just announced on his facebook page that he's opening a new albergue, this one on the Norte, in the town of Caborredondo. It didn't ring a bell so I had to look it up to see it is in between Santillana and Cóbreces.

Based on my experience in Bodenaya, this will likely become another well-loved and greatly sought after donativo albergue. Would love to hear from people who go there.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Interesting, I guess now he knows what truly makes him happy. Good for him, and all of us who will benefit from a great new loving place.

I haven't worked out my stages yet, but if I stay I will report back.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

The Cantabrian coast near Caborredondo is spectacular, famous not for the beaches but for the cliffs - acantilados.

The picture below must have been taken probably not more than 2 kms from the new Alexandro's albergue. Or maybe this is the new albergue? ;)

The albergue is in town, not on the coast, but those are pretty spectacular pictures. Reminds me that when walking the Norte, even when you are not on the coast, you are frequently just a km or two from it, which makes for good evening strolling (I remember finding some pretty amazing beaches that way).

From the looks of things, Alex's new albergue is less than a km or two from the ocean.

does anyone know the exact address for Alexe's albergue in Caborredondo. I must be tonta, but I cannot figure out from the Facebook page. :) sorry

Just a follow up bit of info about Alejandro's new albergue. It is not a donativo. There is a fixed charge. As I understand it from Alejandro's successor in Bodenaya, this has less to do with preferences and attitude and more to do with more practical things like being able to acquire years in the work force for pension purposes. Not that it's any of our business, but I think many people were surprised to learn that the new albergue is run on a different basis than the albergue that made him a legend.
