I walked 2 week stages of the Camino Frances in 2012 and 2013 . Then after travelling in Morocco and Southern Spain in 2014 ,I walked the Camino Frances from St Jean to Santiago in 5 weeks beginning on March 11th. I then travelled out to Finisterre and walked from there to Muxia. This whole experience left a deeply affecting impression on me . I met some wonderful people along the way and made friends who remain in contact with me. I am an Irish singer-songwriter and released an album of original songs in 2016 . One of these, the title track, is entitled Seeking The Assassin ( in the streets of Santiago). A fellow pilgrim and I tried to find a little restaurant I discovered in the 1980's in Santiago. It was a traditional Galician place run by three elderly sisters, called El Asesino (The Assassin) and was located across from the university building at Praza de Mazarelos. The sign included a painting of an old woman chasing a hen with a knife! We discovered it had long since closed. But the song title had its origins there and then I expanded the Assassin idea to cover that which ends relationships and parts of ourselves. At Easter 2016 I returned to Santiago and Muxia and shot a music video with a Scottish filmmaker friend. I am gifting it to this excellent site in the hope that some of you will enjoy it.
